Top 3 cities in Germany for a city break<\/h2>\n

Over 6,000 people voted for their favourite city in August, where to go in Germany and shared their thoughts on the best activities in times of coronavirus. Here, we reveal the top three and our pick of the best tips. <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Due to the pandemic, planning a holiday this year is different from the norm. Popular options are staycations or travelling within Europe. That\u2019s why we set up an online survey in August to find out which are the most popular cities and where to go in Germany in 2020. Here are the results! <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Where to go in Germany? The top 3 cities in Germany for a city break in times of coronavirus:<\/h3>\n

3rd place: <\/span>Munich <\/span> <\/span> <\/span><\/h4>\n

As long as you are still able to sit outside, beer gardens in Munich are a hot tip if you want to get a feel for the Bavarian lifestyle. Culture fans take note: in addition to a trip to Nymphenburg Palace or BMW Welt, the community also recommends visiting the Hofbr\u00e4uhaus beer hall. For nature lovers, cycling tours along the banks of the Isar or excursions into the foothills of the Alps to one of the many lakes are recommended – with breathtaking mountain views into the bargain. And for those who simply want to relax in the sunshine, the English Garden or the Olympic Park are the perfect spots.<\/span> Both of our MEININGER Hotels in Munich<\/a> are straight in the middle of the pulse of the city. You can easily reach the old town, Theresienwiese or the Olympiapark.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hamburg claimed second place in the rankings. Our community particularly recommends boat trips on the Alster and Elbe rivers, however a tour of the harbour and watching the ships are other outdoor highlights in the Hanseatic City. Back on dry land, a visit to the Elbphilharmonie concert hall is recommended, as is a trip to the Treppenviertel district in Blankenese or a walk through the famous Elbe Tunnel. If you\u2019re looking for refreshments, our community points you in the direction of the fish market where you can find particularly tasty local delicacies, as well as the Strandpauli beach club and the Ahoi bistro. MEININGER Hotel in Hamburg<\/a> has the perfect position, it’s right next to Altona train station, from where you can quickly reach all top attractions.<\/span><\/p>\n

Whether it\u2019s Berlin Cathedral, Tempelhofer Feld or the Klunkerkranich rooftop bar \u2013 Berlin offers endless possibilities to soak up culture and experience the city. A large number of lakes (e.g. M\u00fcggelsee or Wannsee), forests and parks (e.g. Grunewald, Tiergarten, K\u00f6rnerpark) in and around Berlin invite you to spend time exploring and provide that all-important holiday feeling. The food and drink options are also impressive: alongside Berlin classics such as Curry 36 or Mustafas Gem\u00fcsed\u00f6ner, vegan concepts like those on offer at FREA or reinvented classics like Gazzo\u2019s Craft Pizza are also popular.  The vast scale of the city means that you\u2019ll have no problems sticking to the social distancing guidelines.
